Bylaws

STEICAMP General Rules

  1. STEICAMP is to be held every 2 years

    • STEICAMP may be delayed with due cause (Ex. STEICAMP 2020 was delayed until 2022 due to COVID)
  2. STEICAMP is to be held on the last full week of June.

    • The originally established date range was the last week in June, which had been in effect since STEICAMP 1984.
    • At STEICAMP 2006, it was changed with a vote to be the first full week after the 4th of July.
    • The current, standing rule was voted at STEICAMP 2018.
      • An exception was made for STEICAMP 2022 to ensure Glacier National Park’s “Going to the Sun Road” was fully open.
  3. A collector’s pin will be made for each year of STEICAMP.
  4. A t-shirt will be made for each year of STEICAMP.
  5. Participation at campfires is highly encouraged. Each family is requested to perform 1 skit, song, or other activity at one of the STEICAMP evening campfires.

  6. Pancake breakfast is to be one of the mornings of STEICAMP.
    • Men are to do all cooking and clean-up (though some Camp Masters have made exceptions in recent years).
    • Historically, it is held on Friday mornings.
  7. Changes to existing rules or newly suggested rules to the official STEICAMP Bylaws will be approved by a majority vote of committee members.

STEICAMP Location Meeting

When it is held
  1. The STEICAMP location meeting should be held on Wednesday night immediately following the family dinner.
    • Unless the campmaster thinks more people will be in attendance on a different day/time.
Voting Requirements

All requirements must be met to be eligible to vote:

  1. You must be present at the location meeting to vote; no one can vote for you.
  2. You must be 18 or older (on voting day) to vote.
  3. You must be of blood relation, adopted, or married into the family to vote.

    • If one spouse is eligible to vote, then both are.
  4. You must have attended at least 2 STEICAMPs to vote (including the one you’re at when voting).
    • Originally, the rule was that you must have attended 2 past STEICAMPS in addition to the previous and current STEICAMP. Making it so you had to attend STEICAMP two times in a row to vote.
    • This bylaw was updated to the current, standing rule at STEICAMP 2024.
Suggesting a Location / Camp Master Requirements

Voting Requirements listed above must be met, in addition to:

  1. A Camp Master must be identified for a location to be on the ballot.
  2. The Location must be in the continental United States.
    • Centralized locations are historically the preferred option.

STEICAMP Committee Members

The list of current committee members and positions can be found on the contact page.

  1. You must be 18 or older to be a committee member.
  2. Each committee member’s term is indefinite unless they step down.
    • Should a replacement committee member be needed, nomination and voting of a new committee member should be done at the same time as the STEICAMP location meeting.
